HIIT adjustment#1790

?

My biggest obstacle in a lot of routines is the time they take. I’ve generally found success with other routines when I basically make them HIIT routines; compressing the rest time I need by working on different muscle groups. Is there a quick way to translate the app’s suggested routines into HIIT?

Hey. This is Chrys, one of the trainers at Hybrid.

Yeah, you can definitely make it more HIIT-style if that helps you stay consistent. I just would not turn the whole thing into something that gasses you out quick if the goal is still strength progress.

The easiest way is to alternate movements that do not hit the exact same muscles back to back. So you could do something like push, then legs, then pull, then core, and cycle through like that with shorter rests. That keeps you moving without one area getting smoked too fast.

Just keep in mind, if the rest gets too short, performance can drop and it starts becoming more cardio than strength work. So yes, you can compress it, but I’d still make sure your reps stay clean and you are not rushing so much that every set turns ugly.

So basically, yes, you can translate it that way. I’d just treat it like circuit training with a little control
