Leg Twists#1767

R

Hey, I am a combination of just too fat and just too inflexible to get into sfaely into the position for even the basic leg twists – and the position i can get in barely feels like anything is engaged other than minor wrist pain.

What can i do to increas flexibility to actually get into this progression?

Hey, Chrys here. One of the trainers at Hybrid.

So the position is just too advanced right now. Forcing it is what’s giving you the wrist pain. Step back and build the pieces first.

Start with easier stuff that opens up the same areas. Simple seated twists, lying knee-to-side twists, and even just bringing one knee across your body while on your back. That’ll start building rotation without putting your body in that awkward loaded position.

For flexibility, focus on hips and lower back. Basic things like hamstring stretches, hip flexor stretches, and gentle spinal rotations will go a long way here. Nothing fancy, just consistent.

For the wrist pain, don’t load your weight on your hands yet. You can keep your hands lighter or even off the floor while you learn the movement. The twist isn’t about pushing into the ground, it’s about rotation.

Once you can rotate comfortably on the floor and your hips loosen up a bit, then come back to the leg twist progression. Right now it’s like trying to skip a few steps, so your body’s just saying “nah.”
