Straight leg twist beginner demo#1744

S

I am not able to put both hand on the ground on the twist, and read the other comments from people with similar issues. I would REALLY benefit from a demo of various stages of progression in this exercise, in proper form, with instructions on where to feel the stretch, and where to be reaching to eventually reach the final form.
This exercise is one I really hope he demos on his Instagram on in the app. Based on the number of questions, I know I am not alone.

Hey, Chrys here. One of the trainers at Hybrid.
The twist confuses a lot of people because the goal isn’t touching the floor, it’s controlled rotation through the hips and torso. Not being able to place both hands down just means your current range isn’t there yet, not that you’re doing it wrong.
Right now aim to feel the stretch through the outer hip, glutes, and side of the torso. If you’re collapsing onto your arm or forcing the reach, you’ve gone past your usable range. Work within the range where you can stay upright and breathe, even if your hand only reaches your thigh or knee. Over time youll naturally move toward the floor.
The floor is just the end point, not the requirement for a good rep.

I’m short short arms Etc when I do the straight leg twist I’m not able to have both hands flat on the ground and I can’t keep my bit leg the foot flat on the ground it’s kind of frustrating what am I doing wrong?

You’re not doing anything wrong. That’s just limb proportions and mobility showing up.

If your hands can’t reach the floor and your bent foot won’t stay flat, just work in the range you can control. Let the hand rest higher up for now and keep the foot as flat as possible without forcing it.
The goal is rotation and control, not touching the floor. The range will improve over time
