I recently reached a wall in which the exercises are no longer easy enough to consistently clear a level/move to the next one and I started needing to do easier variants to be able to do things at all. My question is related to how can I transition between the easier version to the normal version? Do I try doing a level 3 in the easier one before attempting a level 1 on the regular one?
Similar to this question, how can I log the sets in the app in a way that doesn’t assume I’ve already completed an exercise when in reality I was unable to do so on the normal variant?
Thank you so much

Hey, this is Chrys, one of the trainers at Hybrid.
What you’re running into is completely normal. When you hit that wall, the goal isn’t to “force” the harder version, it’s to build a bridge to it. Yes, in most cases it makes sense to get strong and confident at the top end of the easier variation before moving on. If you can hit the higher levels or rep ranges on the easier version with clean form and control, the regular version will feel far more manageable when you reintroduce it. You can also start mixing them. For example, do your first set or two with the harder version, even if it’s just a few good reps, then finish the remaining sets with the easier version. That exposure matters.
As for logging in the app, don’t worry about it assuming you’ve “completed” something in a perfect way. Log what you actually did, even if that means fewer reps or using a regression. The app is a guide, not a judge. If you couldn’t perform the normal variant, it’s better to log the easier one you actually completed than to force numbers that don’t match your session. Over time, that honest tracking helps everything line up more smoothly.
