Full squats back fatigue#1705

?

Hello 👋
I experience mid back fatigue, especially on the sides, whenever I do full squats. It’s like I’m feeling my back muscles working more then my legs lol.
I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong.
Thank you in advance!

Hey. This is Chrys, one of the trainers at Hybrid.
That usually means your back is having to work overtime to keep you upright instead of your legs doing most of the job. Most of the time it comes from leaning forward a bit too much or losing tension in the core as you go down. Try slowing the descent, lightly bracing your abs before each rep, and stopping the squat at the depth where you can still keep your chest stacked over your hips. If your mid-back is fatiguing first, it’s a sign the variation might be a little advanced right now, so using a slightly higher box or assisted squat can help shift the load back to the legs while you clean it up.

Can I elevate my heels to perform full squats? I have long femurs and with this method I don’t have any problems with narrow squats, but I’m wondering if I loose some benefits of full bodyweight squats with this modification. Thank you for your answer

Absolutely yes. I also have long femurs. I squat pretty heavy but even still I use elevation pads. No benefit loss for us😎
