Narrow squat but belly is in the way#1690

?

I am a bigger person. I can do the squats, but for the narrow squat i cant do this and keep balance because my belly is in the way to have my knees come up towards my chest. Do i skip this progression or just do the wider squat?

Yeah, that’s totally normal. Narrow squats are harder when you’ve got more mass in front because it shifts your center of balance. You don’t need to force that progression. Stick with the wider squat where you can stay balanced and move with control. That’s still building the same strength. As your mobility improves and body composition changes, the narrow version will naturally become easier later.
