Breathing during resistance exercises#1469

Hampton, can you please provide basic instructions on proper breathing during exertion and release? When to inhale and when to exhale? TY!

Hey Judith! Chrys here! One of the trainers with Hybrid Calisthenics! So breathing properly varies depending on the fitness activity. During strength training, exhale during the hardest part of the movement, such as lifting a weight, and inhale during the easier part, like lowering it. For cardio exercises, match your breathing rhythm to your movement, focusing on deep diaphragmatic breaths to maintain energy and reduce fatigue.

In isometric exercises like planks or wall sits, maintain steady, deep breaths to avoid unnecessary tension or blood pressure spikes. During explosive movements, inhale before exertion to brace your core, and exhale sharply during the peak effort. For stretching and yoga, use slow, controlled breaths, inhaling to prepare or lengthen, and exhaling to relax or deepen the stretch.

Let me know if this helps!
